Healing and Empowerment for Women

I am a 1977 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School. I have devoted my career to the practice of Psychiatry.

I am also a passionate crafter/maker/writer. My first book, Rx for Quilters: Stitcher Friendly Advice for Every BODYis a Comprehensive Health Care Guide for women who craft. The book was a Main Selection of the Doubleday Cooking and Crafts Club and it won a Gold Medal for Health Communication from the American Association of Medical Writers. You can read more about it on my author website: You can also watch a 20 minute interview of me on HGTV discussing the contents of the book on the website.

I have explored so many crafts, some very deeply. Sewing, Quilting, Knitting, Crochet, Beading, Ceramics and now Polymer Clay.

My second book, I Didn’t Fall, I Was Pushed: Triumphant Recovery from Clergy Sex Abuse, is the story of my own healing from clergy sex abuse that happened when I was five. Sexual abuse, with its physical, emotional, spiritual and sexual aspects, causes a shattering of the survivor’s self. The book is set in a monastery where I lived for six weeks studying Spiritual Direction, and healing. You can read about it on my author website. If you have Amazon Prime and a Kindle, you can read it for free. I give 100% of the profits from that book to causes that support survivors of sexual abuse.

I am also a passionate haiku poet. My work has been published and  anthologized both in the US and internationally.

My Etsy shop is taking a break.
